BJP yesterday demanded the Election Commission to videograph the voting process at all polling stations during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. A party delegation led by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw met the Commission over the issue in New Delhi.

Talking to media after the meeting, Mr. Vaishnaw said they have urged the poll body that the percentage of video recording done on booths should be increased from 50 percent to 100 percent in the coming polls. He said it would ensure proper documentation of everything happening at polling booths and increase

people’s faith in the country’s democracy.

The Minister said the BJP also demanded to set up polling booths in the high-rise building complexes in urban areas so that maximum eligible voters could exercise their franchise in such residential buildings.

The Minister said the delegation also appealed to the ECI to make the approval process related to the media content of political parties faster so that every political party gets enough time to present their views and mould their campaign.
