Bharatiya Janata Party is making deliberations on government formation in Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh after its victory in the assembly elections. The party will also name Chief Ministers for both the states.
In Gujarat, the BJP Central Parliamentary Board has appointed Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and BJP General Secretary Saroj Pandey as central observers for selecting Chief Ministerial candidate.
During the Gujarat election campaign, BJP president Amit Shah had clearly said that incumbent chief minister Vijay Rupani was the party's Chief Ministerial face in the state. According to sources, Mr.Vijay Rupani remains the front-runner for chief minister’s post once again. He won from
his Rajkot west seat from Saurashtra with a huge margin.
However, looking to the challenges against the new government in the state, a party may choose new leadership also. Meanwhile, swearing-in ceremony of new state cabinet is likely to be held on 25th December- which is also the birthday of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
In Himachal Pradesh, the party is considering for a new Chief Minister after the defeat of its projected Chief Ministerial candidate Prem Kumar Dhumal in the assembly polls.Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Narendra Singh Tomar have been appointed by BJP High Command to oversee the selection of the new Chief Ministerial candidate.
