The BJP has called a 12-hour West Bengal bandh on Wednesday to protest the deaths of two students, Rajesh Sarkar and Tapas Barman of Daribhit High School in Islampur Sub-Division, of North Dinajpur district. The villagers alleged that the students were killed in police firing. They also demonstrated before the residences of local Trinamool Congress MLA Kanhaiyalal Agarwal and TMC leader of Goalpokhar Gulam Rabbani
demanding a CBI probe into the firing.
Superintendent of Police of North Dinajpur, Sumit Kumar had said that police did not open fire. The SP had, however, admitted that the students had received bullet injuries and the police is investigating the incident. State BJP President Dilip Ghosh said that his party had no option but to call the bandh.
