A Bhartiya Janta Party Committee will meet Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi on the Presidential candidate this morning. The BJP team, which includes Union ministers, Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley and M. Venkaiah Naidu will also hold separate consultations with CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury in this regard today.
Mr Naidu yesterday spoke to NCP chief Sharad Pawar and TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu on this topic. Mr Chandrababu Naidu said that his party will stand by Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision in this
regard.
Mr Pawar said that he would be in Delhi for the next couple of days for further talks. Sources said, so far, six parties, namely the Congress, BSP, NCP, TDP, CPI (M) and AINC(NR) have been contacted by the Minister. Meetings with leaders of other political parties are also being planned.
Meanwhile, on the second day of nomination for the Presidential elections, one more candidate filed his papers yesterday. However, the nominations from main political parties are yet to come. The last date of nomination is 28th of this month.
