The Aam Aadmi Party has alleged that BJP councillors attacked Delhi mayor Shelly Oberoi when she was going to announce the results of the election of the standing committee members during the Municipal House meeting.
A video was shared by AAP MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj on Twitter, in which three women officers of the Delhi Police can be seen standing near Shelly Oberoi.
In the video, Bhardwaj extends gratitude to the three women police officers for saving Oberoi, who was allegedly attacked by BJP councillors.
On questioning one of the women officers how she got injured, the woman pointed to her hand and said that a BJP councillor bit her hand when she was trying to escort Oberoi to safety. The woman officer refused
to name the person who attacked her.
The woman officer went on to say that the moment the BJP councillors started attacking Oberoi, she tried restraining them. In the process, one of the BJP councillors bit her hand.
Shelly Oberoi too thanked the three women officers and said such 'hooliganism' will not be tolerated in the House.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) House was adjourned on Thursday as ruckus and sloganeering continued over the election of six standing committee members.
Several members of the AAP and the BJP had on Wednesday night exchanged blows and hurled plastic bottles at each other in the chamber of the MCD House, hours after Shelly Oberoi was elected Delhi mayor.
