Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday called the Bharatiya Janata Party's performance in three northeastern states as historic. Counting of votes is underway in Tripura, Nagaland and Meghalaya today. The BJP has make significant gains in both Tripura and Nagaland and is on course to register wins there along with its alliance partners.
Speaking to reporters, Adityanath reacted to BJP's performance and said that “the BJP is all set for a historic win in
Tripura.”
“I would like to congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah ji, and our party workers. Even our performance in Nagaland and Meghalaya is historic. It is an important day in Indian politics,” the UP CM added.
As per latest trends available at 11.30 am, the BJP is leading in 38 seats in Tripura while the incumbent CPM is a distant second with leads in 21 seats. In Nagaland, the BJP+ is in a neck and neck fight with the ruling NPF. While the BJP is leading in 29 seats, the incumbent in 26.
