BJP Parliamentary Board is likely to discuss today the change of guard in Gujarat following the offer of resignation by Chief Minister Anandiben Patel. BJP President Amit Shah on Monday had said that the Parliamentary Board will take a decision on Mrs Patel 's resignation and her successor.
According to sources, Mr. Nitin Patel, the number two in the Anandiben Patel Government and State BJP President Vijay Rupani are seen as the front- runners for the top post. Union Minister Parshottam Rupala, a grassroots leader and Bhikhubhai Dalsaniya, the state party General Secretary are also seen as contenders for the Chief Minister’s post. Mrs. Anandiben Patel had offered to resign from the Chief Minister’s post on Monday evening citing age factor.
While, BJP’s Central parliamentary board is expected to take final call on
the successor of Chief Minister Anandiben Patel, the state is also witnessing hectic political activities. Party’s National General Secretary V. Satish and Party's Gujarat in charge Dinesh Sharma are reaching at Gandhinagar this morning.
They will take the sense of Party MLAs on the Chief Minister’s candidate and also convey the views of Party high command. Both the leaders will also meet the outgoing Chief Minister Anandiben Patel and her senior cabinet colleagues.
State BJP president Vijay Rupai and Senior Minister Nitin Patel are the front runners among the half a dozen strong contenders of the chief Minister's post. However, the Political analysts are not ruling out the name of BJP National President and current MLA from the state Assembly Amit Shah, if he wishes to become the state Chief Minister.
