BJP has decided to project Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal as its Chief Ministerial candidate for the upcoming Assembly polls in Assam. The decision in this regard was taken at a BJP Parliamentary Board meeting in New Delhi yesterday in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi was present.
Briefing reporters after the meeting, Senior BJP leader and Union Minister J P Nadda
exuded confidence that the BJP will form the government in Assam and informed about the decision taken. Mr. Nadda also said, during the meeting, discussion took place in connection with the upcoming elections in various states but decision was taken only for Assam. Meanwhile, AIR correspondent reports that the state BJP unit has welcomed party's Parliamentary Board decision.
