Ahead of the assembly elections in Maharashtra, political activities are gaining momentum in the state. The notification for polls will be issued today. The last date for filing nominations is 29th October. The BJP has released its first list of 99 candidates for the polls.
Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis will be the BJP’s candidate from the Nagpur South West Assembly seat, while Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule will be the party candidate from Kamthi. State Minister Girish Mahajan will contest from Jamner, and Sudhir Mungantiwar from the Ballarpur Assembly constituency. Additionally, the party has nominated Ashish Shelar from Vandre West, Mangal Prabhat Lodha from Malabar Hill, Rahul Narvekar from Colaba, and Sreejaya Ashok Chavan from the
Bhokar Assembly constituency. The seat-sharing formula of the ruling Mahayuti has not yet been finalised.
Leaders from the Maha Vikas Aghadi have stated that their seat-sharing discussions are in the final stages and will be announced soon. Meanwhile, Dr. Jyoti Mete, the wife of late Vinayak Mete, founder of the Shiv Sangram Party, joined the NCP(SP) and expressed her desire to contest from the Beed Assembly constituency. Former President of the Nandurbar District Council Bharat Gawit joined the NCP, while Siddharth Dewale of the Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi and former legislator Parshuram Uparkar joined Shiv Sena (UBT). BJP’s Beed district president Rajendra Mhaske resigned from his post, but has not yet joined any other party.
