Bombay High Court has upheld Shiv Sena (Shinde) group MP Ravindra Waikar’s victory over his rival Sena-UBT candidate Amol Kirtikar in the Lok Sabha election while dismissing Kirtikar’s petition challenging Waikar’s win.
The two contested the election from the Mumbai North-West constituency, where Waikar won by a narrow margin of 48 votes.
In his petition, Kirtikar
sought to have Waikar’s election declared ‘null and void’ and requested that he be declared the duly elected candidate for the constituency. Kirtikar claimed he had asked for a recount on the counting day due to discrepancies in the vote count.
However, while hearing the case, Justice Sandeep Marne ruled against Kirtikar’s petition.
