Mumbai: The Bombay High Court yesterday green-flagged the bullet train project and refused to set aside the acquisition of Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Co. Limited's plot at Vikhroli. Refusing to stay on the project, a division bench of Justices RD Dhanuka and MM Sathaye observed that there are no irregularities in the acquisition. The bench said the project is of paramount importance, and the public interest would prevail over private

interest.

Godrej and the Government of Maharashtra have been at loggerheads over the acquisition of the company-owned land since 2019. Later, in 2022, the company challenged the award of compensation passed by the deputy collector and argued that the final award of Rs 264 crore was way less than Rs 572 crore, the initial amount offered to it by the government for land acquisition.
