Mumbai: Have to book a train ticket urgently and cannot pay immediately? Indian Railways offers you a solution with its new facility to buy rail tickets now and pay within 15 days.
Available on the IRCTC website, this facility allows the customers to pay 15 days after the booking of an e-ticket through the website and applies also to Tatkal tickets.
One can avail this service by using 'e-Paylater' which was so long available for only general tickets. The 'e-Paylater' is as an option on the payment page of the IRCTC website. The service charge for using this service is 3.50 per cent
of the total transaction amount.
"For tatkal tickets, IRCTC users will be able to pay via cash, debit card or credit card by opting to have tickets delivered at their doorstep," said IRCTC payment provider Anduril Technologies, according to a report by IANS.
After booking the ticket, you will receive the payment link via email and SMS and get up to 14 days to make the payment. However, on failing to make the payment on time, IRCTC is liable to levy an penal interest of 36 per cent per annum. It may also lead to the cancellation of your ticket and deactivation of account.
