BSP MP Narendra Kahyap arrested for daughter-in-law's death

Bahujan Samaj Party Rajya Sabha MP Narendra Kashyap along with his wife and son have been arrested in connection with the death of his daughter-in-law Himanshi due to dowry harassment on Wednesday.

Ghaziabad Senior Superintendent of Police Dharmendra Singh confirmed the arrests. "We will not apply for custody and request the court to send them to judicial custody," said Mr. Singh. The offence is non-bailable.

Himanshi was found dead under mysterious



circumstances after sustaining a bullet at their residence in Sanjay Nagar here on Wednesday. The police are probing other angles including murder.

Her family claims that she was murdered for dowry, while her in-laws have told the police that the bullet was self-inflicted and it is a case of suicide.

Himanshi, daughter of BSP leader and former Uttar Pradesh minister Hiralal Kashyap, was married to Mr. Kashyap’s son Sagar in 2013 and the couple has a son.
