In Madhya Pradesh, buses will start operating normally from today after a gap of more than five months. Bus operations in Madhya Pradesh were suspended from March 26 due to the Corona pandemic. The state government has waived off the five months vehicle tax.
In view of financial difficulties of bus operators, the MP government has announced to waive off monthly vehicle tax payable on buses from April to August.
A 50 percent rebate has also been provided in the vehicle tax of September month. The last date for submission of vehicle tax has been extended to 30 September.
The government has assigned the responsibility to increase passenger fares to the Fare Fixation Committee. It is
also likely to be decided soon.
As per the COVID-19 guidelines, sanitizer will be available at every bus stand to prevent infection. The temperature of all passengers will be checked and no one will be allowed to travel without a mask.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that with the commencement of buses, people now get the reasonable transportation facility while employment related to buses will also be started.
Welcoming the decision, Madhya Pradesh Bus Operators Association said that we are starting bus operations from today and according to the number of passengers, buses on the respective routes will also be increased.
