By-Election for two seats of Maharashtra’s Legislative Council will be held this month.
The two vacancies have resulted post the election of Tanaji Jaywant Sawant and Dhananjay Munde to the state’s legislative assembly in October last year.
The Election Commission has informed that notification for the by-poll will be issued on 7th of this month while nominations can be filed upto 14th January.
Nominations will be scrutinised on 15th and the names can be withdrawn till 17th
January.
Voting for Dhananjay Munde’s seat will be held on 24th January and the counting will be taken up after the close of poll.
Voting for Yavatmal Local Authorities' Constituency, currently occupied by Sawant, will be held on 31st January and the counting will be taken up on 4th of next month.
While Sawant’s term will expire on 5th December 2022, Mr. Munde’s predecessor will have to demit office on 7th July 2022.
