Results were also declared yesterday for by-elections to one Lok Sabha seat and six assembly constituencies in five states. In Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party candidate Dimple Yadav has won from Mainpuri Parliamentary seat. She defeated Raghuraj Singh of BJP by a margin of over two lakh eighty-eight thousand votes.

In the assembly by-poll results,  Rashtriya Lok Dal and Samajwadi Party’s alliance candidate Madan Bhaiya has bagged the Khatauli assembly seat of Uttar Pradesh, by defeating BJP candidate Rajkumari by a margin of more than 22 thousand votes. From the Rampur assembly constituency, BJP candidate Akash Saxena won against Mohd Asim Raja of the Samajwadi Party by a margin of more than 34 thousand votes.

Bihar, Kedar Prasad Gupta of BJP won the Kurhani Assembly seat. Mr Gupta defeated his nearest rival Manoj Kumar Singh of JD(U) by a margin of 3,649 votes.

In Chhattisgarh, Congress candidate Savitri Manoj Mandavi has won the Bhanupratappur seat, defeating her nearest rival Brahmahanand Netam of the BJP by a margin of more than 21 thousand votes.

In the Rajasthan assembly by-poll, Anil Kumar Sharma of Congress has won the Sardarshahar seat with over ninety-one thousand votes.

In Odisha, Biju Janta Dal candidate Barsha Singh Bariha bagged the Padampur assembly seat, beating BJP candidate Pradeep Purohit by a margin of over forty-two thousand votes.
