Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has said that Citizenship Amendment Act, CAA doesn't take away anyone's Citizenship. Mr Prasad said, the law seeks to grant Indian citizenship to Hindu, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain and Parsi refugees from Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh who entered India on or before 31st of December,
2014.
Mr Prasad said, former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi gave citizenship to Hindus who came from Uganda and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi also gave citizenship to Tamils from Sri Lanka. He said, if Prime Minister Narendra Modi is doing the same now then why opposition is protesting.
