Cabinet Approves ₹4,136 Crore for Hydro Electric Projects in North East India

Union Cabinet has decided to provide financial assistance to the state governments of North Eastern Region for development of Hydro Electric Projects. The Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Power in this regard. This scheme has an outlay of four thousand 136 crore rupees, which will be implemented from 2024-25 to



2031-32. 

Under the scheme, a cumulative hydro capacity of about 15 thousand MegaWatt will be supported. The scheme provides for the formation of a Joint Venture Company for all the projects of a Central Public Sector Undertaking with the State Government.
