Cabinet approves Rithala-Kundli corridor of Delhi Metro Phase-IV project

The Cabinet approved the Rithala-Kundli corridor of the Delhi Metro Phase-IV project consisting of 26.463 kilometers. Briefing the media in New Delhi on Friday, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said it will further enhance connectivity between the national capital and neighboring Haryana. It is scheduled to be completed in four years from the date of its sanction. The completion cost of the project is 6,230 crore rupees. 

This line will be an extension of the presently operational Shaheed Sthal (New Bus Adda) – Rithala (Red Line) corridor and will boost



connectivity in the northwestern parts of the national capital in areas such as Narela, Bawana, and parts of Rohini. This entire stretch will comprise 21 stations. All the stations of this corridor will be elevated. Mr. Vaishnaw said that with this, Delhi Metro will become one of the largest metro networks in the world.

Today, the Delhi Metro caters to an average of 64 lakh passenger journeys. A total of 12 metro lines, covering about 392 km with 288 stations, are being operated by DMRC in Delhi and NCR at present.
