Hyderabad: The Call Money racket continued to rock the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly for the second day of the 5-day Winter session with Speaker Kodela Sivaprasada Rao adjourning the House for a 10-minute break.
In the 25 minutes that the House was in session on Friday morning, members of the YSR Congress stormed the well of the House thrice, raising slogans against Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and demanding a discussion on the call money racket before Mr. Naidu's statement and then throw the House open for clarification on the issue.
The Speaker wanted the Question Hour to be taken up, regretting that it was being disrupted for the second day too, while Leader of Opposition Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy kept insisting on a discussion before the
Chief Minister's statement. All through the 25 minutes, decibel levels were high with the Treasury and Opposition benches trading charges against each another at the top of their voices.
Earlier, before the start of the session, Mr. Reddy and his party MLAs showered 'milk' on a statue of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, ostensibly to steer clear of ruling party allegations that they had insulted the champion of the downtrodden by not participating in a discussion on how the 125th birth anniversary year of architect of the Indian Constitution should be celebrated.
The ruling party was trying to use the name of Dr. Ambedkar for its political ends with the primary objective of diverting attention from the call money racket, he said addressing the media.
