Campaigning will end this evening for assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry and third phase of polling in Assam and West Bengal. While single phase polling will be held in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry on Tuesday, Assam is witnessing three-phase voting, and that of West Bengal eight phases. Third phase of polling in Assam and West Bengal will be held on Tuesday.
Bypolls to Kanniyakumari Lok Sabha seat in Tamil Nadu and Malappuram Parliamentary constituency in Kerala will also be conducted simultaneously. Voting for 40 assembly seats in Assam and 31 seats in West Bengal will be held in this phase. On Tuesday, single-phase polling is taking place for 234 assembly seats in Tamil Nadu, 140 constituencies in Kerala and 30 Assembly seats in Puducherry.
In Assam, all the political parties are making last ditch efforts to woo the voters. Senior BJP leader and Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, state BJP President Ranjeet Kumar Dass and minister Himanta Biswa Sarma are holding rallies for NDA candidates. Assam Jatiya Parishad President Lurinjyoti Gogoi, AIUDF President Badruddin Ajmal and senior Congress leaders, including state party President Ripun Bora and MP Gaurav Gogoi are also holding election rallies for their candidates.
In Kerala, the three major fronts are intensively campaigning across the State. Union Minister Nirmala Sitaraman, Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi, LDF senior leader and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan hold public rallies and meetings at various places in the State today. As the State will go to
polls on April 6th, all the necessary security arrangements and voting facilities are being organised in polling booths across the State, adhering to strict Covid guidelines.Over 41000 polling booths are there in the State. Nearly 60000 security forces including central forces are deployed across the State.
In West Bengal, Over 40 lakh electors will choose their representatives from over 122 candidates. Star campaigners and senior leaders of BJP, Trinmool Congress and Sanyukt Morcha addressing back to back election rallies on the last day of campaigning for third phase of assembly polls. Campaign will come to an end this evening. Good governance, development of the region and providing employment to youth and poor people are main poll planks of canvassing. Polling will be held on Tuesday in 31 assembly segments spread over districts of Hooghly, Howrah and South 24 Pargana.
In Tamil Nadu, leaders of all political parties are involved in campaigning giving assurances on their manifestos and allegations against each other. Poll preparations are on full swing by the election and law and order authorities all over the State. Paramilitary and police forces departing to their places of duty.
In the Union Territory of Puducherry, with just one day left for the polling, the spirited electioneering reached its peak. Following the imposition of Section of 144 and other restrictions imposed by the election department, the candidates preferred a door-to-door campaign. Moreover, because of the scorching heat, candidates prefer canvassing in the morning and evening.
