Campaigning for the Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Puducherry will end this evening. Polling for 234 seats in Tamil Nadu, 140 constituencies in Kerala and 30 seats in Puducherry will be held on Monday. Counting of votes in these states along with Assam and West Bengal will be taken up on Thursday.
In Tamil Nadu, campaigning through public rallies or electronic media will not be allowed after 6 PM. Political functionaries from outside the constituencies have been directed to
move out after the end of campaign. All establishments including private companies have been asked to declare holiday for its staff on Monday so that they could cast their votes.
Leaders and candidates of various parties try to make the best of the limited time available for them to reach out to the voters ahead of the May 16 election. The AIADMK supremo and chief minister J.Jayalalithaa in a statement has rejected allegations that her promises in the Assembly were not honoured.
