With just one day left for campaigning to end for first phase of Gujarat assembly polls, political parties are leaving no stone unturned to woo the voters.
Mr Modi alleged that Congress party has forgotten the contribution of the tribal communities to India's freedom struggle. He said, Congress feels that only one family has won freedom for India. He declared that his government has decided that 40 million households will be provided free electricity connections. The Prime Minister said his government is a government for the poor.
Earlier, addressing public meetings in Dhandhuka and Dahod, Mr Modi said, BJP government in Gujarat has succeeded in tackling corruption in the
state.
On the other hand, Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi has said that 39 percent of the children in Gujarat are malnourished. In a tweet, Mr Gandhi said the state faces crisis of doctors and cost of healthcare facilities is very high. He also raised concerns on the number of infant deaths in the state.
A Congress delegation of Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee met the Chief Electoral Officer this evening and submitted a memorandum demanding removal of three officers, including two IPS officers accused in fake encounter cases, for free and fair conduct of polls. The campaigning for the first phase of elections will come to an end today.
