In Kerala, campaigning for by-election to the Malappuram Lok Sabha seat will come to an end today. Leaders of almost all political parties that enjoy a stake in the State politics are camping in Malappuram and adding strength to the campaign for the candidates of the United Democratic Front (UDF), the Left Democratic Front (LDF), and the BJP. The by-election will take place on Wednesday.

National leaders including A.K Antony, H Raja, and Prakash Karat visited the constituency as part of the campaigning. The by-election was necessitated due to the sudden demise of Former Union Miniter and sitting MP, E Ahamed. Though the campaigning had begun on a low-key note with the LDF and the BJP fielding lesser-known candidates against Indian Union Muslim League senior leader P.K. Kunhalikutty, the electioneering and the related publicity through the mass media changed the battle scene in Malappuram.

constituency comprising the Assembly segments of Perinthalmanna, Mankada, Manjeri, Malappuram, Kondotty, Vengara, and Vallikkunnu is now witnessing the hottest electoral campaign ever since Malappuram Lok Sabha seat came into existence in 2008. Acrimonious allegations and counter allegations have been made in the campaign with top leaders of the UDF, LDF, and BJP vying for public attention through the media. Biju Mathew, Kozhikode, 

In Jammu and Kashmir, campaiging for the by-election to parliamentary constituency of Anantnag is also coming to an end this evening. State chief minister Mehbooba Mufti's brother Mufti Tasaduq Hussain and Congress state unit president Ghulam Ahmad Mir are contesting from the Anantnag seat. 

Polling for the by-election to this Lok Sabha seat will also take place on Wednesday. Whereas, in Sikkim by-poll will take place for Upper Burtuk Assembly constituency on Wednesday.
