Two persons were killed when two coaches and the engine of Guwahati-bound Capital Express from Bihar's Rajendra Nagar Terminal derailed in Alipurduar district of West Bengal near Assam border at around 21:15 last night. North East Frontier Railway CPRO said, six people were also injured in the accident near Samuktala Road .
The CPRO said, prima facie the cause of the accident was overshooting of signal by driver of the train. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has ordered a
through enquiry into the accident to fix responsibility. About 150 of the stranded passengers were taken back to Alipurduar Junction. The unaffected portion of the train was detached and pushed back from the site. The train will resume journey once the relief operation is completed.
