The Sub-Committee on Safeguarding and Enforcement of the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) has directed Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab to enhance mechanized sweeping, implement anti-smog measures, and enforce the firecracker ban following the Supreme Court’s order. These directions were issued during a review meeting due to the deteriorating air quality in the Delhi-NCR region.

In the meeting, all stakeholders discussed and expressed their commitment to restricting the

manufacturing, storage, sale, and use of firecrackers in the NCR and adjoining areas. The Commission directed all concerned agencies to work in coordination to ensure that air quality levels in the region do not necessitate invoking further stages of the Graded Response Action Plan. The Commission also called for intensified inspections for violations across different sectors and mandated strict actions against those violating the statutory directions of the Commission.
