CAQM permits Diesel Generator Sets to be run till 31st of December for emergency services in Delhi NCR

Commission for Air Quality Management, CAQM for Delhi NCR has now permitted Diesel Generator Sets to be run till 31st of December for emergency services, even under periods of restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan as a one-time exception. 

Earlier, operation of such Diesel Generator Sets was restricted. The Commission also said DG sets deployed for emergency services are also required to install or adopt appropriate means for emission control in



the intervening period. This will come into effect from 1st of October.  

The Commission, from time to time, has observed and sensitized all stakeholders that large-scale use of Diesel Generating sets is a major contributing factor for deterioration of air quality in the region. It has issued Directions, Orders, and Advisory for control of emissions from such DG sets and their regulated operations.
