The CBI has filed its first chargesheet against 13 accused in NEET-UG entrance examination paper leak case in Bihar. The agency said, it has filed cases against mastermind of the paper leak scam Manish Prakash, Sikander Yadvendu and 11 others under sections 120-B, 201, 409, 380, 411, 420 and 109 of the IPC.
In the NEET-UG paper leak case the Economic Offence Unit (EOU) of Bihar police had busted an organized inter-state gang. Initially, the case was registered at Shastri Nagar Police Station in Patna in May this year but was later transferred to the CBI on 23rd June. CBI has utilized advanced forensic techniques, artificial intelligence, CCTV footages, tower location analysis and other tools to gather evidence against the
accused.
CBI is continuing further investigation against other accused and suspects on other aspects of the case. Several other accused are already in police or judicial custody. The agency has said, as and when further investigation against these accused and suspects is complete, supplementary chargesheet will be filed in designated court.
So far, the central investigation agency has arrested 40 accused in this case, including 15 arrested by Bihar Police and conducted searches at 58 locations. In the investigation it was found that the question papers were leaked from Hazaribagh centre in Jharkhand, day before the scheduled date of examination.
