The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has booked a retired Indian Railways officer in a disproportionate assets case. Pramod Kumar Jena retired as the principal secretary manager in November 2022 and his sources of income did not justify the assets he allegedly amassed in his tenure as a government servant.
During searches at his properties in Odisha's Bhubaneswar, the CBI recovered Rs 1.57 crore in cash, 17 kg of gold, bank documents of fixed deposits worth Rs 2.5 crore and documents related to immovable properties worth crores, as per CBI officials. The CBI also
made the seizure of unaccounted items from the bank locker/premises of the accused and others.
The probe agency booked Pramod Kumar Jena, a 1987-batch Indian Railway Traffic Service officer, for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
"The Central Bureau of Investigation has conducted searches and locker operation in an ongoing investigation of a case against then Principal Chief Operation Manager (IRTS), East Coast Railway, Bhubaneswar for possession of alleged Disproportionate Assets," the CBI's statement read.
