The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, CCEA has approved the revision of norms under Mid-Day Meal Scheme with an outlay of over 12 thousand crore rupees for 2019-20.
It will be in addition to the subsidy of about eight thousand crore rupees borne by Department of Food and Public Distribution.
The revised norms and inclusion of new components would improve the efficiency and effectiveness
of the scheme.

The assistance for kitchen devices has been enhanced from 5,000 rupees per school to 10,000 to 25,000 rupees based on enrolment.
This would enable the schools for procuring and replacing adequate kitchen devices.
