Central Inter-Ministerial teams reach WB, MP, Rajasthan, Maharashtra to assess COVID-19 situation

In West Bengal, two Inter-Ministerial Central teams have arrived in the State to assess the ground situation of lockdown implementation. The Union Home Ministry has constituted two teams for this purpose, one for four South Bengal Districts including Kolkata and Howrah and another for North Bengal Districts like Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and Kalimpong. 

In a letter to the State Chief Secretary, a senior official of the Home Ministry has expressed serious concerns over violation of lockdown norms in hotspot Districts of the State and asked the Central team to issue necessary directions and submit a report to them after spot assessment.

In Rajasthan, a central inter ministerial team has reached Jaipur yesterday for monitoring of containment work of COVID 19 in the city. This team may visit Ramganj and other areas of the city today which are affected by the COVID-19. The team is scheduled to visit SMS hospital and meeting with the officials of the state task force. Jaipur is the hotspot of Corona virus where 585 cases have been reported so far.

In Madhya Pradesh, a five-member inter-ministerial team constituted by the central government under the leadership of Additional Secretary Abhilakshya Likhi reviewed the corona outbreak situation in Indore yesterday.

Indore is most affected by corona in MP. The number of patients in this cleanest city in the country has exceeded 900.

Central team inquired about the distribution of groceries, ration, medicines and other essential items during lockdown, management of health



services, social distancing and arrangements made for migrant labourers.

The central team also inspected the police control room, control room set up by the district administration and the helpline centre set up at AICTSL.

The team also discussed teh situation with senior officers of Indore during a meeting. At the meeting, Shri Likhi said that strict adherence to lockdown should be ensured.

He said that with the efforts of everyone in Indore, the arrangements being made to deal with this epidemic will be made more robust and effective.

Two Inter-Ministerial Central Teams are scheduled to visit Mumbai today to make on the spot assessment of situation and issue necessary directions to State Authorities for its redressal. In view of increasing no. of Coronavirus patients in Mumbai and Pune, these teams will visit these cities. They will submit their report to Central Government in larger interest of general public.

IMCTs will focus their assessment on the compliance and implementation of lockdown measures as per guidelines issued under the Disaster Management Act 2005. They will also focus on issues like the supply of essential commodities, social distancing in movement of people outside their homes, preparedness of the health infrastructure, hospital facility and sample statistics in the District, safety of health professionals, availability of test kits, PPEs, masks and other safety equipment, and conditions of the relief camps for labour and poor people.
