The fourth round of talks between the Central government and farmer leaders held in Chandigarh yesterday. After the meeting, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that they had a positive discussion with the farmer leaders. He said that both the parties have jointly proposed that government-promoted cooperative societies like National Cooperative Consumers' Federation of India (NCCF) and National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) will enter into a contract for the next 5 years and buy products from the farmers on Minimum Support Price (MSP). There will be no limit on the



quantity. 

The minister added that the government will have discussions with NCCF and NAFED after returning to Delhi.

Mr. Goyal also said that the farmer leaders will inform by today about their decision on the proposals. The meeting lasted for more than 4 hours.

Union ministers Arjun Munda, Piyush Goyal and Nityanand Rai represented the central government in the talks. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann also attended the meeting. The previous three rounds of dialogues were held on February 8, 12 and 15.
