The Centre has announced a financial package for Andhra Pradesh. It includes full funding of Pollavaram irrigation project, tax concessions and a special assistance.
In a press conference in New Delhi last night, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said, the funding of Pollavaram project would be met by the Centre from 1st of April 2014, the date when it was declared as a national project. He said, the state government would be
authorised to do the construction of the project.
The state, which financially suffered because of creation of Telengana in June 2014, will also get a railway zone. Saying that the commitment made by the Centre in the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act will be honoured, Mr Jaitley also announced tax incentives and grants. Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu said, Andhra Pradesh will be considered a special state.
