New Delhi: The Centre said 780 new air traffic routes have been approved under the regional air connectivity scheme UDAN.
Minister of Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia informed the Lok Sabha that 359 routes have become functional in the country after the inception of the scheme.
Mr Scindia said under the UDAN scheme 59 new airports have been established.
The
Minister said along with increase in civil aviation activities cargo handling services have also been leap frogged.
He said during the Covid pandemic period cargo handling through air routes was also increased to 19 percent from 2 percent.
The minister further said that the number of cargo operators has been increased to 28 in the country.
