Centre has approved construction of one lakh fifty thousand houses for urban poor under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
The Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry, in a press release said that latest approval entails an investment of 7,227 crore rupees with central assistance of 2,209 crore rupees.
The approval was given in the 34th meeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring
Committee at its meeting held at New Delhi.
Andhra Pradesh was sanctioned more than 56,000 houses, while Uttar Pradesh got nearly 23,000, Madhya Pradesh around 18,000, Jharkhand got more than 14,000 and Maharashtra around 13,500 houses.
Other states for which houses were approved included Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Odisha, Punjab and Assam.
