The Centre has approved allocation of Rs 61.90 crore for the country’s 20th Indian Institute of Management (IIM) which began functioning from a temporary campus in Jammu from the current academic session.
The Union Cabinet approved the funds at its meeting presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Thursday.The IIM, Jammu, has begun functioning from the campus of Old Government College of Engineering and Technology in Jammu from the
Academic Year 2016-17 with student intake strength of 54.
The funds, approved by the Cabinet, will be on cost to be incurred in running the institute from its transit campus for the initial four years from 2016 to 2020. The student strength intake would “progressively” go up to 120 in the fourth year.
“This is a part of Prime Minister’s development package for Jammu & Kashmir,” said HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar.
