The government is likely to introduce the One Nation, One Election bill in the current Winter session, according to sources.

To ensure thorough deliberation and build a broad-based consensus, the government plans to send the bill to a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), sources added. The JPC will engage in

detailed discussions with representatives of all political parties, emphasising the need for collective agreement on this transformative proposal.

The cabinet has approved the Ram Nath Kovind Committee report on One Nation, One Election. The proposal aims to hold simultaneous polls for Lok Sabha and state assemblies.
