Moradabad : The Government of India's initiative of reduction in knee implant rates has encouraged the middle and lower middle class people to undergo knee surgeries in the country.
Dr. Anurag Agarwal, knee surgeon, told ANI, "I welcome the initiative taken by the Centre for reducing knee implant rates which has enabled the people specially from middle class and lower middle class category to undergo knee surgeries at reasonable expenditure"
He further said that due to lack of transparency of the implant rates and huge difference in the rates by different hospitals, people used to step back from getting proper treatments. This has led the
government step forward to facilitate patients of all categories to undergo hassle free treatment.
"The government has moreover worked on the land rates of the implant imported from abroad and identified that the reason of the huge price differences was the high margin level," he added.
However, the Centre has decided to cut-off the marginal rates which has brought down the implant rates to an extent that today even a mediocre would be confident to go for knee implantation.
He further asserted that there are some major companies who are engaged in marketing of knee implant products and would continue to do the same but at a reduced price.
