Centre has released 340 crore rupees for flood relief work in Assam. Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Jitendra Singh said this after holding a high-level meeting in Guwahati yesterday with the State Government to assess the current situation of flood and the relief measures undertaken so far. 

Dr Singh said, 101 crore rupees was released by the DoNER, while the remaining 239 crore rupees was given by the Home Ministry under the State Disaster Relief



Fund.

Dr Singh expressed his condolence to the bereaved families of 26 persons who lost their lives in flood. He also complimented the State Government for their prompt response and timely undertaking all required measures which helped in containing further loss to life and property. 

The Minister said, Centre is monitoring the flood situation in the affected States of Northeast on a day-to-day basis and assured full assistance to the State Government.
