New Delhi: The Centre has released 402 crore rupees to Punjab, Under the Jal Jeevan Mission. In the current financial year,  Punjab plans to provide Tap Water Connections to eight lakh 69 thousand rural households.

The Jal Shakti Ministry said, Central fund of over one thousand 656 crore rupees has been allocated to the State for the current financial year, which is nearly four times the allocation for 2020-21. 

The Government of India also released 2 thousand 345 Crore rupees of Central grant to Rajasthan under Jal Jeevan Mission. Jal Shakti Ministry said, the central fund of over 10 crore rupees has been allocated to the



State for 2021-22 for the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission. The ministry said, it is nearly four times the fund allocation made during 2020-21.

The ministry said, Rajasthan plans to make provision of tap water supply to every rural household of the State by 2024. As on date, out of over 100 lakh rural households in the State, nearly 22 lakh households have tap water connections. Since the announcement of Jal Jeevan Mission in 2019, about 9.97 lakh households have been provided with tap water supply. The State has a huge task ahead to make provision of tap water supply to remaining households by 2024.
