Centre says state governments of Punjab, Telangana, Kerala & West Bengal have not implemented RTE act

The Centre yesterday said that state governments of Punjab, Telangana, Kerala and West Bengal have not implemented the Right to Education (RTE) Act which is intended to provide free education to poor students.

Replying to supplementaries during Question Hour in Rajya Sabha Union Minister of State for Education Jayant



Chowdhary said that education is in the concurrent list so the respective government may enact relevant laws for education.

He said the Centre is focussing on education sector so the budget allocation of the Education Ministry has reached around one lakh 20 thousand crore rupees.
