The Centre has said that it will provide an assistance of 400 crore rupees for developing airports at Agra, Allahabad, Kanpur and Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh. 
An official release said, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma told media that efforts are underway to operationalize numerous airports in the State.  He said an airport at Kushinagar will also be developed for which the state government has provided 200 crore rupees. 
Earlier, Mr Sharma held a review meeting at which Civil Aviation Secretary RN Choubey



and other senior officials were present.
Apart from providing 400 crore Rupees for development of​ Agra, Allahabad, Kanpur and Bareilly airports of UP, the central government has also set up a committee comprising two officials each from union civil aviation ministry and state government of UP. 
This committee will prepare a feasibility report to develop airports in Meerut, Faizabad and Moradabad as well. An officer connected with the project said that land acquisition will soon be initiated in the concerned cities.
