The Centre will deploy multi-disciplinary teams to 10 identified states reporting an increasing number of Omicron and Covid-19 cases or slow vaccination pace, the Union Health Ministry has said.

In a statement, the health ministry said that these teams will be deployed in Kerala, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Mizoram, Karnataka, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, and



Punjab.

These teams will specifically look into areas of:

- Contact tracing, including surveillance, containment operations.

- Covid-19 testing, including sending of adequate samples from clusters 
to INSACOG network for genome sequencing.

- Covid-appropriate behaviour and its enforcement.
