Guwahati: Union Agriculture minister Narendra Singh Tomar said that the Centre is working for the betterment of farmers.

Inaugurating a Honey Processing Unit under at Mirza near Guwahati yesterday , Mr. Tomar  said that Union government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi started various programmes and policies for the betterment of farmers of the country.

He asserted that majority



of country's  population lives in villages and primarily depends upon agriculture for their livelihood.

He said that  the Centre has announced various packages under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund.

He said that Under Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi,  1 lakh 62 crore rupees has been deposited in the account of over 11 crore farmers so far.
