Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edapadi Palaniswamy reiterated that the Centre’s three laws on agriculture are beneficial to the farmers.
Talking to reporters at Madurai Airport last evening, he said the DMK is opposing them due to lack of understanding of their various provisions. He said contract farming is only optional for the farmers. He clarified that the contract farming agreements will be made in a transparent manner. He assured that the farmers
can continue to sell the essential commodities they produce at the MSP even after the legislations come into force. He said the stockholding limits can be regulated by the government to prevent anomalous price rise.
When asked about the AIADMK MP in the Rajya Sabha SR Balasubramaniam criticising the bills during the debate, Mr Palaniswamy said his party will call for an explanation from him.
