Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday tabled a white paper in the state Assembly addressing the law and order situation during the previous YSRCP government.
He stated in the white paper that the people in the state suffered during the former chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy-led government. He said that even opposition party leaders, executives, media personnel and religious places were not spared during Jagan's tenure.
"The YSR Congress leaders across the state have taken law and order into their hands and attacked people. They took the support of some police officers and continued attacks on the people and political leaders in the state," he said in the Assembly.
Naidu said that he would review the political cases filed in the last five years and initiate action against the officers who file such cases and take action against them. He said he would take action against those who create law and order problems in the state.
He requested the NDA MLAs and NDA party members not to break law and order in the state.
"The state suffered terribly under an egoistic, corrupt, and inefficient chief minister - driven by personal gain, resulting in huge public outrage," Naidu said, taking a dig at YS Jagan Mohan
Reddy.
The Telugu Desam Party chief also alleged that opposition parties were prevented from conducting meetings and other political activities through "illegal detention" during the former YSRCP government.
He said that many cases were registered against opposition party leaders, including him, during the past five years. He gave an example of the attempt to murder case booked against him.
Talking about the murder of former Congress MP YS Vivekananda Reddy, who was Jagan's uncle, Naidu said, "If a former chief minister can do this for his own uncle, imagine what he can do to the public."
Notably, Reddy, a former Congress MP from Kadappa and the younger brother of former Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, was murdered on March 15, 2019, before the Lok Sabha polls. Kadapa MP and Jagan's cousin YS Avinash Reddy's father was arrested by the CBI in connection with the murder, and he was summoned by the agency.
However, Jagan had given a 'clean chit' to Avinash Reddy, who contested the elections from Kadappa on a YSRCP ticket.
Naidu said that during the past five years, the public "lost their faith" in the police.
The Chief Minister further said that the state had become a "Ganja capital" under the YSRCP government.
