Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has issued a stern warning to private boat operators in flood-affected areas, cautioning them against charging flood victims for rescue services.

During his visit to the flood-ravaged regions near Vijayawada, Naidu announced the state government would cover all expenses related to private boat operations and warned that any operator found collecting money from victims would face imprisonment.

Speaking to the media at the NTR district collectorate, Naidu described the situation as the worst devastation he had ever witnessed. Relief efforts are in full swing in the flood-affected areas.

Chandrababu Naidu claimed that Budameru, which has become a significant concern for Vijayawada due to merging small rivulets, had been neglected by the previous government. He assured that encroachments on lakes and Budameru flow channels would be removed to mitigate the problem.

Naidu further slammed the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP)

leaders who claimed that Amaravathi was submerged,

"While people are suffering, these leaders are engaging in fake publicity and creating unnecessary panic,” Chandrababu Naidu said.

Talking about the relief efforts, Naidu said that food was supplied to 91% of the affected population by Wednesday morning. He said that feedback is being collected from the people through Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) three times a day to improve the relief services. He assured that the quality of food supplied is thoroughly checked to maintain standards.

He added that drinking water is being provided through 182 water tanks, and regular water supply is being restored through civic connections. Additionally, medical camps are being organized, and essential medicines are being distributed. Sanitation works are also being carried out in the affected areas.

The Chief Minister announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh to family of those who lost their lives due to the flood.
