The Vikram Lander module that separated from the Propulsion Module of Chandrayaan 3 spacecraft yesterday is now laced in 113 into 157 kms orbit after a successful deboosting operation on 18th August 2023.

In a tweet, ISRO has said that the Lander Module health is normal. The second deboosting operation of Lander is scheduled for the day after tomorrow on August 20th at around 0200 hrs. The



de-boosting manoeuvre will continue till the Lander reaches closest to the Moon after which attempts will be made to soft-land on the surface of the Moon on August 23. 

A retired scientist of ISRO and science writer Dr. B R Guruprasad has spoken on the challenges involved in accomplishing the task of soft landing Vikram lander on the surface of the Moon.
