Chennai Metropolitan Area to be expanded to 8,87 8 square KMs

Chennai Metropolitan Area will be expanded to 8,878 square KMs by including areas from neighbouring districts.Housing and Urban Development Minister K Radhakrishnan announced in the Assembly today that the whole of Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts besides



Arakkonam taluk in Vellore would included in Chennai Metropolitan Area.

He said the expansion will ensure equitable growth and integrated urbanisation adding that the measure would also help de-congestion in Chennai city.
