In Chhattisgarh, a regular flight service from Jagdalpur, the Divisional Headquarters of tribal Bastar Division, to Raipur and Hyderabad began yesterday.
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel virtually inaugurated the flight. On this occasion, in a recorded video message, Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said, the move will boost tourism in the Bastar region, which is known for dense forests, high hills and waterfalls and unique tribal
culture.
He said, air connectivity will fulfil the aspirations of people of the region and provide impetus to the local economy.
Speaking about efforts being made under the regional connectivity scheme-UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik), the Minister said, the Centre has sanctioned 108 crore rupees under UDAN scheme for up-gradation and development of three Airports in Chhattisgarh.
